On November 17, the National Library of Armenia hosted a delegation from the National Library of Georgia.
The Georgian delegation included Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, General Director of the National Library; Levan Taktakishvili, Director of the Library Resources Department; and Beka Ghazhonia, Head of the Cartography Division.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the national libraries of Georgia and Armenia. The document outlines a framework for implementing joint projects and facilitating the exchange of professional expertise.
During the visit, high-level meetings were held aimed at deepening collaboration within the library, cultural, and educational sectors.
As a highlight of the visit, a Georgian Literature Corner was officially inaugurated in the main reading room of the National Library of Armenia.
The delegation also attended the exhibition "Georgian Literary Heritage at the National Library of Armenia: 1783–2025." The showcase featured publications and translations into Georgian preserved within the collections of the National Library of Armenia. The exhibition aimed to highlight the extensive Georgian bibliography held in Armenia and to underscore the centuries-old cultural ties between the two nations.
These events and initiatives will significantly contribute to strengthening the bond between the national libraries of Armenia and Georgia, while supporting the preservation and promotion of their shared cultural heritage.
