Formerly Beurré Giffard has been widely enough distributed in the horticultural regions of Karthalinia and South-Ossetia, but presently it has only the importance of an amateur sort.

Fruit small, narrow pyriform, at harvest maturity greenish, at using maturity greenish yellow in colour, slightly blushed on the sunny side. Flesh whitish, melting sweetish acid, of a pleasant flavor for a dessert sort. Crop ripens in Juli. The fruits are picked 4-5 days before complete maturation. Their quality improves if the tree be grafited on a vigorous stock, on quince double grafting beiting necessary; bearing early, fruiting average, blooming early, selfsteril flowers, sometimes parthenocarpic fruits.

Berré Giffard requires heavy pruning.

In the vicinity of large centres the draft form of this sort is particularly advantageous, What makes it recommendable for the commercial assortment of suburban farms in Georgia.
