Single trees of this sort are met in the horticultural districts of Karthli, white in other districts (Akhaltzikhe, Kakhetia, Abkhasia) it plays the part of a pomological rarity.<br /> <br /> Fruit large, short pyriform, with a slightly knobbed surface, easily injured by Laspeyresia pomonella. Skin smooth, lustrous, at harvest maturity green, blushed on the sunny side, when fully ripe yellowish in colour, sometimes with spots of russet on the surface, very attractive in appearance.<br /> <br /> Flesh white, tender, melting, sweet, slightly acid, flavour excellent. Crop ripens in August.<br /> <br /> Clapp’s Favorite has the following features: medium growth of the tree, relative hardiness, late bearing, abundant fruiting, unrequisitiveness to soil, late blooming, good resistance to scab, affinity with the quince.<br /> <br /> Clapp’s Favorite is a good summer sort.
