Summer red Calville is not frequently met in the fruit growing of Georgia. Among the red Calvilles it occupies the last place. It has not had any commercial importance in the past, as it has none at present.

The defects of Summer red Calville as of a commercial sort are the following: Great susceptibility to scab and Codling moth, common flavour of fruits, often getting mealy even on the tree.

Ripening for picking and for use in July.

However, early bearing and high productivity give Summer red Calville the importance of an amateur sort.
