V. Beridze. Theories Preceding Vitalism: Animism and Hilodzoism. - Collections of the Works of the Chair of Philosophy and Politology. - Batumi: Batumi University - 2001 - 54-59 - Bibl. 8.
The paper deals with the ideas of theories preceding vitalism - animism and hilodzoism. Theories of Stahl and Tailor on the notion of animism are studied and the difference of those notions is shown. It was proved that a rather large material was accumulated after Tailor, which made clear that the process of dualism in the world was not at all a result of animation of the nature. The paper, by adequate substantiation, shows that all those who declared the existence of a soul, were not animists. Thus, for example, Plato and Aristotle declared the existence of soul, but in distinct from animists, they considered that the soul was inherent only to live persons.
The paper shows the essence of difference between animism and hilodzoism with the view of their world outlook: animism is a religious movement, while -hilodzoism - a philosophical one. At the end, the results of the study are summed up and the conclusion is made that animism and hilodzoism are the theories preceding vitalism, since they try to establish genesis of life.
