L. Kodua. Moral Functions of the Christian Religion. - Tbilisi: Sazogadoeba tsodna - 2001 -187 p. - in Georgian.
The work determines the role of Christian moral values in the questions of spiritual ablution of the people, regulation of their relations, integration of social forces, solving of social problems.
There has been assessed Marxism's hostile position in relation to the faith generally, and namely, to the Christian religion and its moral both from the theoretical and practical points of view. There has been analyzed atheistic argumentations directed against moral norms of the Christian religion.
By means of the systemic ways the work studies a basic outlook of the Christian moral doctrine. In the literature dedicated to the Christian moral, the religious-moral requirements are presented by two blocks: the first one comprises moral norms which show the people's relation to the God, and the second one the moral norms which regulate the human relations. The work made attempts to substantiate that moral credo of the Christian religion comprises not only Decalogue but it extends further. The author marks out the third group of norms of moral behavior, which is produced from main moral norms and named by the author as everyday moral norms. From her point of view the degree of human morality greatly depends on the complex of moral norms of this category which regulates a man's way of life (food, hygiene, clothes, relation to the nature, animals, plants etc).
Special attention is paid to determination of moral aspects of Christian sacraments what is comparatively less elaborated in scientific literature. The thesis has been put forward that without consideration of moral purpose of the Christian sacraments it is impossible to establish in full moral function of the Christian confession.
From the author's opinion moral principles, requirements and rules of the Christian creed system may be successfully spread and realized in relations between nations and states. She describes the factors which will stipulate increasing of the influence of Christian moral in the international scene.
An opinion has been argued that moral values of mankind will be even more obligated in the future from the moral platforms of the Christian creed and other religious systems.
The final part of the book determines the place of Christian religion and its moral in the life of one of the oldest orthodox people - the Georgians. Within the seven decades aggressive course of the Communist party towards the religion left sad results in the people's awareness and actions: domination of animal instincts, care only for own well-being, avoiding common causes, mutual distrust, hatred and animosity, robbery and misappropriation, bloody conflicts etc.
As author concludes, one of the main ways of coming out of crisis situation for the Georgian people is to follow the way of Christ in order to achieve spiritual and moral revival.
