The question of unification of Batumi region to Georgia is discussed in the article. In this period (1918-1921) the struggle for Batumi and its region was particularly harsh. This problem had repeatedly been raised by Georgia until Batumi region finally joined to its motherland. This act was officially formed as the Karsi Treaty on October 13, 1921.

The article deals upon those difficult political events that took place in Adjara after the Brest Treaty (March 3, 1918). According to the Treaty Adjara, including Batumi and the regions of Karsi and Artaani, had been passed under the Turkish jurisdiction. Although the political situation in the South-West Georgia quickly changed: the Brest-Litovsk Treaty was abolished Turkey, defeated in the World War I, to withdraw its troops from Batumi and other occupied regions of Transcaucasia.
