The work presents cultural-literary preconditions determined the origin and development of the client-centered therapy, the principal postulates of which are: unconditional acceptance of a human being, his empathy and autenthity in the in interaction with people.
As a literary source of this psychotherapeutic model one of the chapters of Dostoevsky's novel "The Karamazov Brothers" — "The Grand Inquisitor" is discussed. A dialogue described in it between Christ and the Inquisitor is an example of a new type of interpersonal interrelation which later Carl Rogers worked out in detail in his conception and then on its basis created an original psychoterapeutic technique which got a worldwide acknowledgement.

There is an attempt in the article to describe the interrelation between a therapist and a client in different Psychoteerapeutic models in terms of contact-separation. It is shown that these mechanisms enable a therapist to mobilize a client to overcome the problem, while the therapist himself watches the course of the process according the planned strategy. Using the general regularities of mechanisms of Contact-Separation worked out in the theory of Attitudes alongside with psychotherapeutic processes at the same time is an attempt of the further development of the Theory of attitudes.

There are many ways of manipulation of a human in the psychology of influence. How to use this experience for the sake of social wellbeing? Psychotherapy is the field which aim is to assist a human. In the given work there are described the methods of human influence in rational psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, client cantered therapy, gestalt therapy.
It is shown that the methods of influence as well as the world conceptions differ from one another in the abovementioned directions.

It's shown in the work that people mindlessly are inclined to react upon Authority as itself as well as upon its symbols: such as a title, a suit, a model of the car, etc. Regularities of submission to the authoritative people and the bearers of the symbols of Authority are considered as the manifestation of the consistency of attitudes.
