New peculiarity of current labor emigration in Georgia is women's participation in it. Through our researches it found that every third labor emigrant is a woman. Their major recipient countries are Greece (24 % of female labor emigrants), Germany (23.5 %), US (18.7 %) and Russia (14.3 %). Women in Greece and Germany made up 70 % of the labor emigrants.
Through the research it found that women are employed in the service sector (33,1% out of them are nurses, 9.2 % - babysitters, 4.8 % - waitresses, 9.2 % - office-cleaners, 5.5 % shop assistants and so on). Women suffer separation from their native countries and relatives more than men. In fact, in most cases many families are separated due to labor emigration.
The cash remittances sent by labor emigrant women to their families were substantial. Through our research it found that cash remittances sent by women to their families were more by $ 40 than men's.
The research showed that the potential or return migration of married women is much higher compared to men. Likelihood of staying abroad for unmarried women is higher than men's.
The reproductive indicators of labor emigrants are very low. The impact of women's emigration on Georgia's demographic potential is extremely negative.
