The Origiun and Development of Rosary

The rosary is supposd to be established in the Eastern Charch in 4th cent. for the needs of the newly founded monastic life. In the early middle ages rosary, the simple tool for praying, may be connected with martirological crown weaved of roses, especially red ones, gained new conotation and expresed theological meaning of martyrdom. The rosary with 150 beads for reciting psalms and prayers to the Virgin gave additional support to her cult in the West, when it was introdused to the West (nearly 12th cent). Born in North Africa rosary passed through Europe, part of Asia and in America as well.
