Caucasus always been a sphere of interest among its neighbours. At the XIX century Russia had conquested this terrytory. For the conducting of its economical and political interests Russia needs the full information about Georgia. The statistical societies of Russia had done a great work. The article presents the analysis of the materials of two collections. The first includs the period before Shamil’s independent movement. The second – the ethnical situation in Caucasus after this independent movement.
