Towards the some questions of translations and reviws of Evfimi Bolkhovitinov’s work “Historical Picture of Georgia”

The work of Evfimi Bolkhovitinov “Historical Picture of Georgia” was published anonymously in St. Peterburg on 1802.

The article gives the analysis of Ludvig Shletser’s and Malt-Bran’s reviews about this work.

In one article E. Bolkhovitinov gives an information about translating of “Historical Picture of Georgia” into English, French and German. The German translation was published by Frederic Shmidt in Riga on 1804. The French and Englishe ones are still anknown.

The author thinks that the political background of the XIX century, particularly the interest of England and France to Caucasus and the fact that the scientifical sircles had no information about Georgia besides the work of E. Bolkhovitinov gave a reason for translating this book into English and Franch.
