Reine Claude green

Reine Claude green is an old commercial European plum of ancient importation in Georgia. Presently it has little importance being represented by single trees in different districts.

Reine Claude green is very well adapted to the environment either of Eastern or of Western Georgia. The tree, when young, yields only fairly, later on becoming a heavy producer. Abundant crops cause the size of fruits to decline.

The fruits of Reine Claude green are long ago esteemed for the quality of the product they give when canned for compote and also for their excellent flavor whon used fresh.

Poor shipping qualities and susceptibility to Laspeyresia constitute the defects of this sort.

In Western Georgia the crop of Reine Claude green ripens in the beginning of August, in Eastern Georgia after the 20 of August.

It is standard sort for canning factories zones.
