In middle Kakhetia (Urnatubani, Velis-tzikhe, Tsinandali) an interesting sort is cultivated, bearing the name of Tabaka, derived probably from the pecullar flattened shape of its fruits.

The tree of Tabaka legvi is medium in growth, sometimes in the form of a bush.
Branches strong with short internodes, what makes the top dense.
Leaf large or medium, fivelobed, pale green, petiole long.

The blossom ciusters in the spring buds consist mostly of male flowers among which are scattered female flowers, the normal maturation of which is not uniform.
The spring fruits of Tabaka are scarse and they always drop without ripening.
They would drop even if caprified, as the blossom ciusters consisting for the most part of male flowers, are polleniferous and cannot be fertilized
According to Eisen’s classification this sort approaches the „Adriatic tipe“.
Its reproduction as of a sort giving valuable material for drying is very much desirable for the districts of Kakhetia.
