Angevine Beauty

In Georgia the pear of Angevine Beauty is known under the name of „Virgla msquali“. It is met as single trees, growing in home orchards of suburban regions. As to continuous plantations, there are none.

Fruit is very large, high topped, pyriform. Firm skin, thick, lustrous, slightly rugose, ground colour at full maturity is yellowish, more than one half is red on the sunny side, covered with dark dots; white flesh, rough, astringent, rather dry, granulated, fresh nearly uneatable, when overripe becomes more juicy, sometimes mealy, with less tannins, eatable, though very poor in flavour. Angevine Beauty is a typical kitchen sort.

The outstanding nice appearance of its fruit and good keeping qualities make of Angevine Beauty a valuable amateur and decorative sort.
