Bellefleur yellow
The sort Bellefleur yellow was introduced in Georgia in the eighties of last century. It is not so widely spread as other foreign sorts. Especially in Karthalinia are sometimes found trees 60-80 years old, while in other districts exist only single specimens of this sort.
In new plantations it makes up 5-8%.
Bellefleur yellow succeeds not everywhere equally well, though best of all in high Karthalinia and South-Ossetia.
The fruit is rather large, ribbed, fresh, yellow in colour when ripe, covered with brown dots, with a pinkish golden blush on the sunny side.
Fruits ripen by the end of September: keep till late in winter, and even till spring; during storage swell, become spotted, sometimes mealy.
As to biological and economical characters, Bellefleur yellow is very requisitive to environment and agricultural engineering, fruits are ununiform, commercially acceptable at a low rate, dropping, easily, subject to Rhynchites bachus and scab, low in quality if humidity of air and moisture of soil be high: bearing displays a tendency to periodicity.
Bellefleur yellow succeeds rather well and gives showy fruits on week stocks, because of why it can be recommended for shaping cultivation.
This sort is self-steril, with Winter Calville considered as a good pollinator for it.
