Micado

The pear Micado is a Japanese sort. As the other Japanese sort „Daimo“ and the American Kieffer’s Seedling, it is a commercial sort for canning. In the excessively humid districts of Western Georgia, on the Black sea coast Micado has always been and gets still more widlblindly common.

Fruit oval round, ressembling more that of an apple than of a pear. Skin dark russet in colour, rugose, scattered all over with conspicuous whitish dots.

Flesh very firm but juicy, having a specific melon aroma, flavor only fair. Fruit ripen at the end of September.

Tree weak, with an open top. Leaves large, thick, fine serrate, blooming early, flowers large; fruiting heavy, regular.

This sort is not susceptible to fungus diseases.

Micado can be recommended for growing exclusively in the humid districts of Western Georgia.
