Mtzvane legvi (Green fig)
Mtzvane legvi is one of the most widely distributed sorts of figs. Its clone variations are met nearly everywhere in Kakhetia. In several districts under this name exist forms with strongly expressed peculiarities of the sort. We give them under numbers 1,2,3.
The present pomological description is given according to sample № 1.
Tree
Tree of medium growth; bush form frequent.
Branches few; top loose, spreading.
Leaf with deep sinuosities, fivelobed, with a thin pulp and thin veins.
Fruit
This sort gives one crop yearly.
Fruit medium in size, onesided, with a short, narrow neck and a long green stem.
Skin greenish yellow.
Pulp under the skin white, very tender.
Quality of the fruit high, flavor sweet, aroma pleasant.
The fruits of this sort are highly valued by the local population, and in last they are excellent when used fresh or preserved.
