Red Fall Calville

Red Fall Calville is one of most common sorts of apples in Georgia whilst in Kathli every yard is adorned with one or several trees of this sort. This flavour with the population can be easily explained by the unrequisitiveness of Red Fall Calville, by its high productivity and the beautiful showy appearance of its fruits.

The fruits of Red Fall Calville and Winter red Calville are much alike with the difference of those of the first having the pulp tinted with pink, especially near the seed cell and under the skin. As a commercial sort Red Fall Calville has the defects of high susceptibility to fusicladium, ordinary flavor of fruits, poor keeping qualities.

Red Fall Calville is not admitted in the commercial assortment for Georgia, remaining a largely amateur sort, the trees of which adorn the gardens and orchards of the kolkhosniks.
