Winter Banana (apple cultivar)
Winter Banana has been introduced to Georgia comparatively recently. It is common in the Karthalinian horticultural districts but elsewhere in Georgia is met only in single specimens. In new plantations it is allowed at the raie of 3-5%.
The fruit is large, unsymmetrical; ground yellowish, covering bright red, lustrous; very attractive in appearance.
Flavour, aroma and other qualities excellent. Crop ripens in the beginning of October; fruit keep till Spring.
The features of Winter Banana are: vigorous vegetative growth, open top, poor productivity, late bearing, weak stem, easy dropping of roots, high requisits to environment and agricultural engineering; becoming time-midseason.
It is a self-steril sort, with Bellefleur yellow as the best pollinator.
Winter Banana is a good amateur sort.
